ATTENBOROUGH AND THE GIANT SEA MONSTER
VFX | DESIGN | ANIMATION by Bandito VFX
Bandito VFX are proud to be the sole VFX vendor for the wonderful "Attenborough and the Giant Sea Monster" that was aired on New Years day on BBC One. After the giant skull of a prehistoric sea monster, known as a 'Pliosaur' was discovered in a cliff in Dorset, Bandito VFX was approached to bring the creature to life alongside its natural prey the Ichthyosaur.
Working closely with director Victoria Bobin, Bandito started the project by extensively storyboarding every sequence whilst consulting with scientists and researchers to design the creatures.

Once the creatures were built and textured Bandito then animated and composited the Pliosaur and Ichthyosaur into live action footage that included the dinosaur swimming under the feet of Sir David Attenborough.
Employing creative ingenuity, Bandito successfully achieved remarkable photo-realistic quality for this ambitious project. In the process, they breathed new life into the majestic 'Pliosaur,' envisioning it once more gracefully navigating the waters of the Jurassic coast.
“Attenborough and the Giant Sea Monster”, is a 1×60’, BBC Studios Natural History Unit production for BBC One and iPlayer, and PBS.
